First edition of this curious treatise on comparative mythology by Arnold Westerhoff, richly illustrated by Romeyn de Hooghe on ancient peoples such as the Egyptians, Chaldeans, Phoenicians, Jews, Greeks, Romans, etc. "Sought-after work for the engravings which pass for one of the masterpieces of 18th century etching" (Dorbon 5261).
