Flore CHAUMETON - POIRET - CHAMBERET Flore Médicale. Paris, Panckoucke, 1841-42. (Followed by) Iconographie Végétale ou organisation des végétaux illustrée au moyen de figures analytiques par J. F. TURQUIN, avec un texte explicatif raisonné par M. A. Richard. 7 volumes in-8 ; illustrated with 359 plates (numbered 360, the sugar is numbered for 2 plates whereas it is a bis) and 15 bis plates out of text in fresh colors engraved on copper by Lambert, Forget, Dubois... With explanatory leaves, as well as 60 tables for volume 7 (numbered 56 and 4 bis) after the drawings of Mrs. Panckoucke and Turpin. Plate 93 is missing (torn off as well as the corresponding text part). 3 plates stained, very marginal light foxing in places. ½ contemporary long-grained red calf, title, tomaisons and gilt fillets on smooth spines. A good copy. Famous flora of the 19th century, with the name of each plant in Greek, Latin and in the main European languages, it then traces the description of the plant with its etymology, its medicinal qualities and its main uses. The original edition is from 1814-18.
