Signed binding CHEVALERIE] The Book of the Very Chivalrous Count of Artois and his wife daughter to the Count of Boulogne. Paris ; Brussels, Verbeyst, 1837. In-4: XXVIII, 206pp, (1); some plates out of text. 19th century burgundy morocco signed SCHAVYE, spine ribbed and decorated with geometrical gilt decoration in the form of a rosette in the centre of the boards, double gilt fillet on the edges, large inner garland with fleur-de-lys on the red morocco cover, red moiré silk endpapers, bumped on one corner, gilt edges. A fine copy. A true painting of the mores of the time not without an interesting historical background. As a true precursor of chivalric literature, the author has sketched the salient features that characterize the true knight. The battle scenes are rendered in all their variety.
