Paris, Firmin Didot frères, fils & Cie, 1873. 7 volumes in-8, ½ tan calf with corners, spines decorated with gilt irons a little faded, red titles, black tomaisons, marbled edges. The author, a French gentleman of liberal orientation, officer in the American Revolution. - Mémoires de M. le Baron de Besenval, lieutenant general of the King's armies under Louis XV and Louis XVI Paris, Buisson, year XIII (1805). 4 volumes in-8, contemporary marbled fawn basane, spines decorated, red titles and tomaisons, yellow edges. A good copy. The author was a writer, courtier and soldier of Swiss origin in the service of France. Set of 11 volumes.
