Binding signed Charles Meunier MEUNIER (Charles) - LANNELONGUE SUBSCRIBERS Beautiful binding made by Charles MEUNIER containing the list of subscribers to the medal offered to Doctor Lannelongue, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Paris, member of the Institute and the Academy of Medicine. In-4, 37 parchment sheets containing the complete list of subscribers including Mr. Emile Loubet (President of the Republic), members of various committees, many doctors and professors, many various personalities (politicians and other bodies). Handwritten list in red and black. One leaf slightly disjointed. Very rich mosaic binding in full havana morocco signed Meunier (1902), spine ribbed and decorated, laurel irons, boards richly decorated with oak palmettes around a caduceus with gold snakes, dark brown chagrin background, medal faces in the center on each board, bevelled corners, silk endpapers with stylized floral decoration, gilt fillet in frame, fleurons in spandrels, gilt edges. A fine copy. Odilon Lannelongue, renowned French physician and surgeon, born in Castéra-Verduzan (Gers) in 1840, and died in Paris in 1911. He was a renowned surgeon, professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Paris, member of the Academy of Sciences, president of the National Academy of Surgery, then of the Academy of Medicine, deputy and senator of the Gers. Friend and doctor of President Félix Faure in his last moments, he was called to the Élysée Palace when the latter died in 1899. He treated many personalities at the end of the 19th century, including Léon Gambetta and Sarah Bernhardt.
