Red morocco with the coat of arms of Louis I, Duke of Orleans [HOLY WEEK] Office de la semaine sainte, latin-françois, à l'usage de Rome et de Paris. Paris, d'Houry, 1736. In-8, 2 plates out of text. Handwritten bookplate Ricard. Contemporary red morocco, spine ribbed and decorated, fleur-de-lys between the boxes, gilt roulette with fleur-de-lys framing the boards, arms of Louis I duke of Orleans, gilt roulette on the inner and outer edges, one bump on a cup, 2 dull corners, red edges. Provenance: Arms of Louis I d'Orléans (1703-1752), duke of Orléans, only son of Philippe II (the Regent). He entered the Council of Regency and was appointed head of the Council of Ministers on the death of his father. He resigned from his position as Colonel General in 1730 and from his government of Dauphiné in 1747 and retired to the Canons of Sainte-Geneviève where he died. He bequeathed his rich library to the Dominicans of Paris (OHR 2570, fer 2).
