Alexandre BIGOT (1962-1927) CERAMIST & Louis BIGAUX (1858-1933) DECORATEUR ET AUTEUR DU MODEL "Janus" the model presented at the Universal Exhibition, Paris, 1900 Spectacular baluster vase-sculpture; the decoration of the four masks (Nymphs & Satyrs) in very high relief, the hair evoking handles and spreading to the base. Proof in flamed stoneware enamelled polychrome with beige and blue coulures. Art nouveau period. Height: 67 cm. (Reconstructed base, small scattered chips on the hair, restoration of part of one of the hairs). Provenance: Important collection of Bordeaux around the Art Nouveau. Exhibition : Exposition Universelle, Paris, 1900 - A model identical to our vase was presented at this event. Bibliography : - Art et Décoration - April 1900.
