Flore française, ou descriptions succinctes de toutes les plantes qui croent naturellement en France, disposées selon une nouvelle méthode d'analyse, et précédées par un Exposé des Principes élémentaires de la Botanique. Third edition Paris, Desray, 1815.
5 volumes in 6 volumes in-8; illustrated with 11 folding plates (in fine of volume 1), a folding table, and a large folding map of France in color.
½ marbled contemporary fawn basane, smooth spines, red title-pieces, black tomaisons, gilt fillets, 2 weak jaws, rubbing, marbled edges.
Third edition containing numerous important modifications and additions.
This was the first major botanical work by the young de Candolle, who had already made a name for himself with his "Histoire des plantes grasses" and his work on dormant plants.
Lamarck, absorbed by other work, entrusted Candolle with the revision of his work: 6000 new species, with its unpublished botanical map.
