Costumes RACINET (Albert Charles Auguste) Le Costume Historique. Five hundred plates, three hundred in color, gold and silver, two hundred in monochrome. Principal types of clothing and finery. Paris, Firmin Didot, 1876-88. 6 volumes in-4. Double-page plates (26 after Colas) count as 2 plates (not collated, copy difficult to collate). ½ brown chagrin with corners, gilt title and tomaisons on spine, rubbing, gilt heads. "Small edition" of this monumental work. An in folio version appeared the same year with the same plates. See Colas for details. Numerous figures in and out of the text, in black and in color. ½ green filleted chagrin, ornamented smooth spines sunned, rubbing and wear from use, gilt heads.
