[BIBLIOTHÈQUE du TSAR ALEXANDRE Ier - ESCLAVAGE - TRAITE des NÈGRES]

Long-grained red morocco, ornate ribbed spine, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, gilt fleurons in the spandrels, gilt roulette on the edges, double gilt fillet inside, gilt edges.
A rare and precious copy from the Library of Tsar Alexander I.
In the preface, it is printed: "This work is the translation of a series of Letters inserted in a London newspaper, entitled the "New-Times", and addressed to the allied sovereigns assembled in congress at Aix-La-Chapelle, in September and October 1818"; this work being dedicated to the allied sovereigns, this copy was probably the one given to the Tsar.
