Jacottet's two albums reunited JACOTTET (Louis Julien) Souvenirs des Pyrénées ou choix des sites les plus pittoresques des Établissemens Thermeaux (sic) et des Environs. Paris, Gihaut Frères 1835-36. (Followed by) Souvenirs des Pyrénées - Nouvelles Excursions... Paris, Gihaut, [1841-42]. 2 volumes in folio: 1/ Souvenirs: title illustrated with a vignette (Beaucens), 50 plates numbered 1-50 + 3 plates numbered 1-3 and one plate without number (Pont de la Bidassoa). 2/ Nouvelles excursions: title, table and 50 plates numbered 1-50. Serpents between each plate. ½ red long-grained morocco with period filleted corners, rocaille-style irons on spine, old-pink percaline boards with slight discoloration, gilt title on upper boards. A good copy. Very rare complete bound work. Reunion of the two albums on the Pyrenees: 1835-36 with 50 plates plus the 5 supplement plates that are not always included, especially the last one. It corresponds to the trip made in 1834 and 1835. A second part, 1841-42, entitled "Nouvelles Excursions", with 50 plates. Painter and lithographer, born (it seems) in Paris (1806-1880), confused with a Swiss namesake. Marguerite GASTON calls him Swiss, but does not give a date. Author of numerous collections of views of European water cities. Although he exhibited paintings, his life sketches were done in pencil and mainly monogrammed (Harambourg Dict. des Peintres Paysagistes Français au XIXep. 191)(Benezit VI, 8)(M.
