PRELLER (L.)
Excerpt from the "Carnets d'excursions" (excursion notebooks) relating mountain life at the Villa Excelsior in Les Eaux-Bonnes, built by the Bordeaux-born Laurenz Preller, also known as "Lorenz Preller".
This extract is all the more interesting in that it is accompanied by several highly instructive handwritten sheets by Émile Durègne; one gives some information on Laurenz Preller, another reports interesting elements on the future of the notebooks for the villa Excelsior.
These 15 typewritten sheets concern excursions to Balaïtous - Panticosa - Boucharo - Gavarnie from August 29 to September 4, 1899, with the Gadens, L. Preller, M. Vivier, L. Couve, Gustave and Edmond Cadier as participants, followed by an excursion to Pic de Sesques on September 12, 1889 (with the Gadens, L. Preller and L. Couve).
Typescript in-4: 16 typewritten pages and 2 handwritten sheets of variants in fine.
½ red chagrin à la Bradel Signed MONTECOT, long gilt title on spine. Mounted on tabs.
Provenance: These notebooks formerly belonged to Émile Durègne de Launaguet (1859-1938), bibliophile and President of the South-West Section of the C.A.F., then to Hubert Dupont, another Bordeaux bibliophile.
