Limited edition of 60 copies (n°31 for Jules Comte), signed by the author. 2 printed bookplates by Isidore Fernandez. Red morocco signed BALMES, gilt title on spine, gilt bookplate of Isidore Fernandez, filleted edges, inner lace, publisher's buff cover, gilt edges. * Library of a bibliophile. 1865-1885. Lille, Danel, 1885 (Followed by) Eugène Paillet bibliophile. 1829-1901. Slne, 1902. In-8, limited edition on laid paper. 3 printed bookplates by Isidore Fernandez. Jansenist morocco signed BRUGALLA 1943, gilt titles on spine, gilt bookplate of Isidore Fernandez, filleted edges, inner lace, publisher's covers preserved, gilt edges. Provenances: Two ex-libris printed on leather and gilt super-libris on boards of Isidoro Fernandez, Spanish bibliophile. Many of his books were bought in Paris. He had them bound first by Marius Michel and later by Emilio Brugalla, one of Spain's most prestigious bookbinders. There are several forms of ex-libris of this bibliophile, one of which is used as a gilded super-libris on the boards of full morocco bindings. After his death, his collection was maintained by his daughter Flora, and from 1984, by Flora's son Carlos. After Carlos' death in 2009, his daughter Elisa Fernàndez Stoykovich sold the Library at Christie's in London.
