In-4: 2f., 212pp. Limited edition of 200 copies, one of 50 with 2 suites (n°1) and an original book-size drawing of 9 types of Basque peasants, executed in pencil and watercolor (signed and dedicated by the publisher).
Brown mosaic morocco signed NOULHAC, boards decorated with a large mosaic framing composed of a green morocco listel with red and gilded flowers at the corners, green and havana vine leaves towards the corners joined by grapes, mosaic ribbed spine, double gilt fillet on edges, sextuple gilt fillet inside with central roulette, double endpapers including green silk endpapers, gilt edges, covers and spine preserved, protective sheathed case to be restored. A fine copy.
A splendid copy of this beautifully illustrated edition of Pierre Loti's famous novel.
Provenance: Copy from the libraries of Descamps-Scrive (René Descamps-Scrive, French collector and bibliophile whose library was among the most prestigious in France between the wars, and who was a member of several bibliophile societies) and Brunet.
