Batch of issues from 1939 (one issue), 1946 to 1958, then 1967 to 1988 (two different formats). Paperback, illustrated covers. Bulletin Pyrénéen. 1939-1947. No follow-up. Excellent condition. Publication, interrupted during the war, resumed in a new form in May 1946. Of the original contributors (Mailly, Cazenave, Medevielle, Manauthon, etc.) only R. Ollivier was left in the new series, joined by Jeannel, J. Caussade, Abadie (speleo), Escudier, Ledormeur, Fourcassié, Parant, Pragnères, d'Espouy, Defos du Rau, Maury, Boisson, Heïd, Tonnet, etc. This second series continued until 1952. This second series continued until 1952. After an interruption, it resumed as an insert in the Revue "Pyrénées", then again in separate issues. This Revue is rarely complete for the 1946-52 series, and pre-war issues are so rare that all references to it that we have been able to find omit them, and the B.N. catalog does not have them. "Altitude is the official magazine of the Groupe Pyrénéiste de Haute Montagne, founded in Lourdes on July 11, 1933. Its successive editors were J. Peyroulet (founding editor), B. Clos, R. Ducasse, Ch. Minvielle, R. Lavielle, J. and P. Ravier, Ch. Despiau, R. Lafranque and finally R. Ollivier. Over the years, we've covered the entire history of Pyrenean mountaineering at the highest level. All the big names of today have put their names to it. In short, a valuable magazine".
