MANUFACTURE JULES VIEILLARD & Cie À BORDEAUX AMÉDÉE DE CARENZA (1840-1912) DESIGNER OF DECORATION Decoration inspired by Hokusai's creations Large baluster vase with a wide ring-shaped neck, on heel and two side holds depicted by elephant heads. Proof in polychrome enamelled earthenware; a first decoration in a cartouche encircled in gold and inserted in a decorative reserve on a background of geometric motifs in slight relief under a blue Deck cover. A tusk of one of the elephant's heads is broken and missing, enamel jumps around the neck, and scattered wear and tear on the enamel. Marked with the stamp of the factory (ref. Du Pasquier 25) and the reference D 764 of decoration on the reverse. H.: 37 cm.
