DUNOUAU (Olivier) - [SALMON]
Salmon fishing in the Basses-Pyrénées. Pau, Marrimpouey, 1925.
In-8: 78pp., advertising pages; photographic illustrations in the text.
Stapled, pale green paper cover illustrated. Very fresh.
Mythical work. The first of its kind on the fishing of the great migratory fisherman in Béarn. The places are carefully reviewed. In addition to his functions as president of the "Gaule Paloise, Société pour la protection du Poisson dans les Basses-Pyrénées" and "Membre du Comité Départemental de la Pêche fluviale" (Member of the Departmental Committee of River Fishing) he ran a fishing tackle factory under his name and under the registered trademark "Kiatir" located in Bizanos, founded apparently at the beginning of the war, and which published a catalogue of its production for the 1925-26 season (it does not seem to have been before this date but after?). He was an essential actor in the protection of salmon and rivers. President of the fishing society, he warned against poaching and the non-respect of the law. He was master builder of a fish farm inaugurated in 1932. DUNOUAU is the author of two other booklets entitled "Le Saumon dans le Gave de Pau", Pau, Lescher-Moutoué, 1929 (16pp.) and "Le Saumon dans les Basses-Pyrénées, Administration et Baros", Pau, V. Marrimpouey aîné, 1924 (8pp.), both very rare, especially the last one.
