AUTOMATIC - Lot 358
AUTOMATIC Window automaton. Sitting fisherman. Height 52 cm. Circa 1920. Metal frame, face, hands and shoes in celluloid, real glued hair and straw hat. Coarse striped fabric jacket and trousers in a 1900/ 1920 style, birch trunk in base. Electric motor under the jacket. The fisherman sits on a trunk and holds his rod, his arm and head follow the water line from right to left, the fisherman jerks the rod with a small jerk, then arm and head straighten up, go back to the left and lower themselves to start again from the beginning. The whole automaton is original. The motor has probably been changed for 220 V, the electric wire and the plug are recent and work perfectly (the very fragile hat has been reinforced but without missing and will deserve a restoration). Probably meant to brighten up a fishing tackle retailer's window.
