(table) ; woodcuts in the text, 2 plates out of text (a portrait and a frontispiece) and 6 folding pages. 19th century red morocco, spine ribbed and decorated in the Duseuil style, gilt fillet on the edges, inner garland, gilt edges. A fine copy. New edition of Nicolas de Gueudeville's translation of Erasmus' In Praise of Madness, first published in 1713. It includes notes by the physician and philologist Gérard Listre. The edition reproduces the rich and beautiful illustration that already appeared in the 1713 edition. It consists of a plate with portraits of Erasmus, Holbein and Thomas More, a frontispiece, 75 vignettes in the text and 6 folding plates
