Antique stiff vellum, handwritten title on spine, red edges. First French edition. Thomas Hobbes was one of the most original and vigorous thinkers of the 17th century. Opposing the monarchy of divine right and judging men to be equal in nature, he influenced the Enlightenment and in particular Rousseau.
