First edition - Curiosa - With the 8 free figures [MIRABEAU (Louis de Riqueti, Vicomte de)] The Moral of the Senses or the Man of the Century. Extracted from the Memoirs of Mr. le Chevalier de Bar***. London, se, 1792. In-12 : 1f. 244pp. 3f. (table) ; 8 free plates out of text. Copy on Holland laid paper with large margins. ½ brown spotted percaline in the Bradel style after the edition, title gilt on spine. Second edition of this famous 18th century erotic work. Well complete with the eight figures which are mostly missing. Under the name of Chevalier de Bar (Barville), the author, brother of the famous revolutionary orator, recounts his amorous adventures with descriptions of "the habits of women of his time". Obese and almost as debauched as his famous older brother, his drunkenness earned him the nickname "Mirabeau-Tonneau". A writer with wit, author of innumerable bon mots, he was also a contributor to the journal Les Actes des Apôtres with Jean-Gabriel Peltier.
