Contemporary marbled fawn basane, spine ribbed and decorated, green title page, headbands faded, cold fillet framing the boards, small leather tears at the corners, red edges. Jean Pierre François de Ripert, baron de Monclar, son of a councillor who had been attorney-general at the parliament of Aix, and whom he succeeded in this office in 1732, was born on October 1, 1711, at the castle of Saint-Saturnin, near Apt where his family used to spend their vacations, and he died there on February 12, 1773, during the exile of the parliament.
