ROSEWOOD CHEST OF DRAWERS - Lot 129
ROSEWOOD CHEST OF DRAWERS with engraved ivory inlays, of mouvement form on the front and on the sides, opening with two drawers, the wooden top resting on rounded uprights ending with cabriole feet, decorated with characters and riders, busts, balusters, falls, frames and simulated sabots. Northern Italy, probably Turin, First half of the 18th century. H.: 91,5 cm, W.: 130 cm, D.: 62,5 cm. The decoration of this chest of drawers allows it to be included in a group of furniture made in Turin in the first half of the 18th century by various cabinetmakers such as Pietro Piffetti, Luigi Prinotto, Ludovico De Rossi and Giuseppe Maria Galbiati, notably for the court of Savoy and of which a number of examples are preserved at the hunting lodge of Stupinigi near Turin.
