[JESUITS] Collection of 11 works (15 volumes): - GAZAIGNES (Jean Antoine), abbé]: Annales de la Société des soi-disans Jésuites; ou recueil historique-chronologique de tous les actes, écrits, dénonciations, avis doctrinaux, requêtes, ordonnances, mandemens, instructions pastorales, décrets, censures Paris, se., 1764-69. 4/5 volumes in-4 (vols. I-IV); illustrated with 4 frontispieces and 6 plates out of text (3 of them double-page). Small traces of worms in the margins at the head of a few leaves of volume I, with damage to the text of a few leaves of volume III, small stains. Contemporary marbled fawn calf, spine ribbed and decorated, red title-pieces, 4 damaged headpieces, one bit cracked, cold fillet on the boards, gilt fillet on the edges, red edges. Publication against the Jesuits. Without the last volume which was published in 1771. In spite of the anti-Jesuit spirit and the negative prevention, the work is interesting because one finds there information on the exploits of Jesuits in their missions in South America, in the Indies, in China and in Japan. - LACOUTURE (Jean): Les Jésuites.
