Binding with arms ORIGEN Origenis adamantii Philocalia, de obscuris S. scripturae locis Paris, Cramoisy, 1624. In-4 : 12f. 736pp. 11f. (index). Text on two columns in Greek and Latin. Wet stamps of an Angevin institution, printed bookplate Catalogo inscriptur. Bound in fleurdelysée, contemporary fawn basane, smooth spine decorated, boards and spine covered with a semis of gilt fleur-de-lis, central gilt arms to be identified, corners and foot cap restored, gilt fillet framing the boards, gilt fillet on the edges, gilt edges. Origen is the father of biblical exegesis. He is recognized as one of the Fathers of the Church, but, unlike many of them, he has not been canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church because of some of his theses that were rejected by Christian orthodoxy.
