London, Tonson & Watts, 1723. 2 volumes in-4; frontispiece portrait engraved by Daullé, 13 plates out of text by De Sève engraved by Tardieu, Le Mire, Aliamet, Sornique, Lempereur, Flipart, Jacq, with deep blacks. Beautiful margins. Contemporary brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated, headpieces restored, triple cold fillet framing the boards, double gilt fillet on the edges, interior roulette, gilt edges. A very fine edition of Racine's works, established by Pierre Coste and dedicated to the young Duke of Gloucester, the future Prince Frederick of Wales.
