[BORDEAUX] Meeting of works on the history of Bordeaux: - BERNADAU (Pierre): History of Bordeaux. Bordeaux, Castillon, 1839. In-8; illustrated with a folded, watercolored map of Bordeaux, drawn from the 1737 survey. The 6 lithographs are missing. ½ dark blue basane, smooth spine decorated with romantic irons. Second corrected edition; the first one, which the hermit of Floirac attacked vigorously, is from 1837. - COURTEAULT (Paul): Bordeaux, classical city. Paris, Firmin-didot & Cie, 1932. In-8, copy with all margins, not trimmed. One of the XX copies on limited edition (n°XV). Autograph address from the author to Mr. Émile Camart, with his printed bookplate. ½ plum basane, black title page and gilt fillets on smooth spine, illustrated publisher's cover preserved. - VIVIE (Aurélien) : History of the Terror in Bordeaux. Bordeaux, Féret, 1877. In-8, volume I only. Limited edition (n°84) on laid paper. ½ red basane, title and gilt fillets on spine, publisher's cover preserved, gilt head. This work was printed at 1100 copies according to Féret : "Unprecedented success in the annals of the Bordeaux bookshop". Born in Bassens in 1827, Vivié had a brilliant administrative career. It is his most important work (Féret III 620-621). - RIBADIEU (Henry) : History of Bordeaux during the reign of Louis XVI, preceded by a notice on the statue of Louis XVI in Bordeaux by Justin Dupuy. Bordeaux, les principaux libraires, 1853. In-8; illustrated with a folded view of the Place de la Bourse in frontispiece. Red chagrined paper covered boards, long title on spine.
