Two volumes in-8; one folding plate of the siege of Blaye in 1592. ½ black basane, gilt titles and fillets on smooth spines. First edition of this important work for the history of trade from the 12th to the 17th century. The work evokes privateers, trade with America and Africa, cod and whale fishing, trade in wine, brandy and eau-de-vie, grains, sugars, refineries, salt, gabelle, tobacco, wood, glass, etc. - GRADIS (Henri): History of Bordeaux.
