AUSONE (Decius Magnus AUSONIUS) Works, translated into French by the abbot Jaubert. Paris, Delalain, 1769. 4 volumes in-12, Contemporary marbled fawn calf, ornate smooth spines, red titles, fawn tomaisons, triple fillet framing the boards, gilt roulettes on the edges and inside, gilt edges. Nice copy. Also included : OEuvres complètes. New translation by E.-F. Corpet. Paris, Panckoucke, 1842. 2 volumes in-8, with occasional foxing. Blonde basane of the time, old pink titles and olive colored endpapers on the spine, rubbing and small spidering. First edition in French of the works of Ausone, grammarian and poet born in Bordeaux (or Bazas) in 310 and died in 395 (between Langon and La Réole), he was also a politician, man of letters and Gallo-Roman pedagogue of the period of the Lower Empire, close to the emperor Gratian. Aristocrat of the late Antiquity, he celebrated the wine of Bordeaux (origin of Château Ausone).
