DROUYN (François Joseph Léo) Military Guyenne. History and Description of the Fortified Cities, Fortresses and Castles built in the Country which now constitutes the Department of the Gironde during the English Domination. Bordeaux, the author; Paris, Didron, 1865. 2 volumes in folio illustrated with a map, 61 plates (including 1 bis) (volume 1). That is to say 152 plates out of text engraved with etching on chine mounted by Léo DROUYN numbered 1-150 (plus plates 1 and 150 bis). Freckles in places, spotting on some plates (at the end of volume 1). ½ modern blue basane with gilt fillets, titles and fleurons on spine, blue covers publisher cxonservées. A monument of engraving by the excellent Leo Drouyn. "Indispensable work in spite of its age, because of the mass of historical documents gathered, the very numerous plans, sections, general views or details which illustrate it".
