In-8 paperback, publisher's printed cover. One of the most famous works on Périgueux. Henry François Athanase de Taillefer (1761-1833), French military, numismatist, archaeologist and historian. The Revolution forced him to emigrate to Germany for ten years before returning to France. Having lost a large part of his property, he retired to a small house in Périgueux where he continued his research on the antiquities of Vesonius begun before the Revolution.
