Documents [DOCUMENTS - MILITARIA] Small wooden box containing a set of correspondences (to his family and friends) of a French captain of infantry (S. Morlan), prisoner in Prussia during the war of 1870, following his capture in Strasbourg, as well as a set of letters and various correspondences sent during his various transfers during his active life. There is also a fable by La Fontaine (The Wolf and the Lamb) in French, French Arabic and Arabic, as well as a few sheets in Arabic probably written during an appointment in Algeria. Also included is a manuscript titled "Observations on the enclosure and gates of ancient Jerusalem", as well as another set of 10 bound leaves titled "A revoir et à recopier d' après comparaison avec l'ouvrage à Mr de Sanley Les derniers jours de Jérusalem". Also attached to this lot, a manuscript notebook also belonging to Captain Morlan of the 62nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion of the Grenadier Company in the Mexican Army (Mazatlan, July 1, 1866) containing literal copies of autograph documents found at the home of Commander Duparc de Loemaria of the 62nd Line Regiment, at the death of the latter on June 23, 1866 in Mazatlan (Mexico), as well as a few pieces of correspondence in Spanish.. Nice set to work on.
