Richard COSWAY (1742-1822) Oval miniature, gouache on ivory representing the portrait of a lady in lace clothes wearing a large ribboned cap, signed and dated 1790, label on the back with the inscription "Miss Bover". Brass frame decorated with foliage, topped with a ribbon bow. 9 x 7.5 cm. In the 1770's Richard Cosway became the most fashionable miniaturist in England, he painted portraits of many members of the royal family and the English aristocracy.
