Higinio BLAT (Valencia, 1893-1974) - Lot 209
Higinio BLAT (Valencia, 1893-1974) The sea Oil on canvas. Signed lower left. 40 x 50 cm. (Piece on the back). In its oak frame of the period. Student of the Academy of San Carlos in Valencia, Higinio Blat met the disciples of Sorolla, whose technique inspired him. In 1933, he moved with his wife to Pau where he set up his studio for about fifteen years. Staying away from the civil war in his country, he emigrated to Mexico, first to Mexico City, then to Sonora in the north of the Aztec country. There he founded and directed an academy of plastic arts where he trained students. Finally, in 1959, Higinio Blat returned to Spain to end his life in Pamplona. Our painting, of great mastery, is distinguished by an admirable work of matter that serves its excellent state of conservation.
