ALEXANDRE VAGUER GOLDSMITH, CIRCA 1900, PAIR OF CANDELABRAS CONVERTIBLE INTO TORCHES, in Minerve silver 950 thousandths with rich Louis XVI-style decoration. They stand on four skate feet decorated with foliage, the round base highlighted with enrubanné fillets, repeated on four uprights holding the central shaft and on the light arms. The quiver-shaped shaft supports the five-light upper part, while the arms are decorated with foliage and held by seeded fruits. The binnacles are adorned with interlaced motifs and florets, and the dishes are fluted. Weight 5,220 g. Total height 45.5 cm. Torch height: 27.3 cm. Restoration on a central spigot, minor accidents: cracks on three spigots, hole on the end of a branch. Alexandre Vaguer began working as a jeweler in Paris in 1884, and gradually became a goldsmith.
