Richard COSWAY (1742-1822) Oval miniature, gouache on ivory, depicting a portrait of a lady in lace garments wearing a large ribboned bonnet, signed and dated 1790, label on back inscribed "Miss Bover". Brass frame decorated with foliage, topped with a ribbon bow. 9 x 7.5 cm. In the 1770s Richard Cosway became England's most fashionable miniaturist, portraying numerous members of the English royal family and aristocracy.
