Jean-Paul ALAUX (1876-1955) Set of three... - Lot 157 - Briscadieu
Jean-Paul ALAUX (1876-1955) Set of three lithographs, circa 1930 Illustrating the history of Notre-Dame d'Arcachon: - The primitive chapel founded by Thomas Illyricus on the water's edge (1519-1624) - The second chapel in modern times (1624-1722) - The Romantic chapel (early 19th century) 23.5 x 32 cm. After which André Rebsomen (1870-1963) produced drawings published in his book Notre-Dame d'Arcachon, Bordeaux, Editions Delmas, 1937. Jean-Paul Alaux retraces the origins of a building particularly close to his heart: the church of Notre-Dame d'Arcachon, built in the 1860s by his grandfather Gustave Alaux (1816-1882), was enlarged in 1883-1884 by his father Michel Alaux (1850-1935), to whom he pays implicit tribute.
