3 volumes in-4; handsome frontispiece portrait of Racine engraved by Daullé, 12 hors texte figures and numerous vignettes and culs-de-lampe and bandeaux by Jacques de Sève, engraved by Flipart, Baquoy, Legrand, Le Mire, Tardieu, Aliamet, Lempereur. Scattered spotting, 2 or 3 leaves browned in outer margin (volume III). Copy with good margins.
Contemporary glazed speckled fawn calf, ornate ribbed spine, headpieces worn away, one headpiece at foot worn away, with leather missing from the last box, hinges worked (volume 1), triple gilt fillet framing the boards, double gilt fillet on the edges, small leather losses at the corners, inner gilt roulette.
The finest edition of Racine published in the 18th century.
