2 collections containing around 450 items of correspondence addressed to Mr. Drageon, Consul of Monaco in Toulon. Letters of various requests and grievances, numerous correspondences on and around the navy, requests for organization, purchase of equipment, provision of a whaleboat, various letters concerning the yacht Princesse Alice which was used by Prince Albert I who was passionate about scientific exploration of the oceans. In 1891, he had the new yacht Princesse Alice built, with which he took his soundings to depths of 3,560 meters, studying in particular the large depression southwest of Madeira that came to be known as the Monaco Trench. Good set.
2 volumes in-4, correspondence bound in 2 volumes ½ period fawn basane, smooth spine, red title-piece and black year-pieces, rubbing.
