Photographs North America [ÉTATS-UNIS (UNITED STATES) - NORTH AMERICA PHOTOGRAPHS] Collection of approximately 175 late 19th-century albumen photographs mounted on 72 large, flexible boards. Views of Hudson, New York, Chicago, San Antonio, Boston, workers, various sites, Seattle, Helena (Montana), Missouri canyon, American interiors, Saint Paul, Washington area including White House and Capitol, Montana sites, San Francisco, Chinese in San Francisco, Indians including Chiefs (Yellow Dog), New Mexico, views of busy cities, cotton culture, Louisiana, Santa Monica, Salt Lake City. Some of the prints are signed in the print plates by TAGER (San Francisco), A.S. BARNES, C. R. SAUVAGE, while others do not bear the names of specific photographers. Large format for 6 or 7 plates (49x39 and 26x33 cm), medium format for the others (18x23 and 12x18 cm). Set of albumin prints. Some edges of large plates with folds or small tears, 2 or 3 small tears. Some plates with captions. Superb and rare set of 19th-century North American prints. Isaiah West Taber (1830-1912) was an American daguerreotypist, ambrotypist and photographer who took many pictures of California and of famous Californians. Samuel E. Jacobson was a photographer from San Antonio, Galveston and Weimer. In his early days, he worked for a time in partnership with a traveling photographer.
