Bordeaux, Racle, 1782-83. 3 works in one volume in-4: 76pp. 4 folding maps and plans in fine (wetness at head of plates, wide margins) - 37pp. - 64pp. (slight spotting at head). Contemporary tortoiseshell calf, smooth ornate spine, minor restorations on spine, triple gilt fillet framing the boards with fleurons in spandrels, double fillet on edges, gilt edges. First edition. Intendant of Berry, he was appointed to Bordeaux in 1776, where he developed numerous projects (leveling of the Château Trumpet, canal encircling the city from the west, etc.), but was constantly rebuffed by the Bordeaux parliament and the States of Guyenne. Nevertheless, he succeeded in imposing some of his designs. The bourgeoisie and the magistracy united against him. He finally left Bordeaux towards the end of 1784.
