Charente - Lot 352
Charente MICHON (Jean Hippolyte) canon Statistique Monumentale de la Charente. Drawings and Plans by ZADIG RIVAUD, GEYNET, LAFARGUE TAUZIA, ABADIE and FABVRE. Paris, Derache, Angoulême, principaux Libraires, 1844. In folio; 32 plates hors texte lithographed on mounted chine or engraved (including frontispiece), a double-page plan, the large view of the façade of Angoulême cathedral which is often missing, and a large folding map in fine. Frequent foxing. ½ black chagrin with corners, gilt title on spine, gilt head. A good copy. In addition to his sometimes sulphurous religious writings, such as "le Maudit", Canon Michon was interested in Charente archaeology. His works include a "Histoire de l'Angoumois" with M. Vigier, a "Monographie du château de La Rochefoucauld" and this excellent "Statistique".
