The first volume contains two long notes, geographical and historical, presenting the customs, arts, sciences and religious principles of the Hindus; the second volume is devoted to a description of the monuments of the peninsula.
Louis-Mathieu Langlès began publication of this monumental work in 1812, and is the author of numerous works on Oriental literature and history.
