2 volumes in-8 (text) and an atlas in-4 with fifteen plates (including one folding map). Light half-mark in foot margin on last few plates. Wet stamp Cabinet de Lecture: A la Tente - Palais Royal. Galerie Ebois.
½ tan basane, smooth spines, gilt title, fillets and irons, headpieces torn off, rubbing (text) and ½ tan basane, smooth spine and boards rubbed, corners dulled, red edges.
First edition of the French translation of one of the first important works on Tibet and Bhutan, published in French by Jean Castéra in the same year as the English original (bibliotheca sinica 2909).
