Cauterets - Hautes-Pyrénées BRAYLENS (Camille Jean Paul) Pyrenean sketches. Cauterets. La Réole, Vigouroux, 1867. In-16, 80pp; small photographic medallion featuring the author. Contemporary red chagrin, ornate ribbed spine, wide gilt garland framing the boards, roulettes on the edges and inside, gilt edges. A fine copy. A month in Cauterets. An amusing and detailed look at the town. Some portraits, including of Princess Galitzin and especially Abd-El-Kader's two sons. BRAYLENS was a banker born and died in La Réole (1830-1878). He had a political career in his home town, and was a member of the Conseil Général de la Gironde in his final years. In addition to a large number of articles in various local newspapers, he published 2 booklets similar to this one: "Dix minutes d'arrêt" and "Un pied en Espagne" (Féret, Statistique III 97).
