Binding signed Pagnant [FORS - BÉARN] Los Fors et Costumas de Bearn. Lescar, Ioan de Saride, 1625. Small in-4: title, 1f. title of 1552, 2f. 181pp. the 2 titles in fine woodcut frames, numerous lettrines. Modern stiff vellum in the Bradel style with covers signed PAGNANT, pastiche decorated ribbed spine, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, Rare with its 2 titles. 3rd edition of Les Fors, and the second with, like the 1602 edition, a copy of the title of the 1552 edition in addition to its own title. LACAZE indicates: "Sarride asked the States for the number of Fors that the Country wanted to take from his new edition, and, on the advice of Monseigneur de Lescar, it was set at two hundred by decision of Sept. 8, 1622". If the figure of 200 copies is correct, this 3rd edition would be by far the rarest if only the print run were taken into account (Labadie 1388)(Hauvette Fors p. II 3664).
