Contemporary red morocco with the arms of Louis XIV PÉREFIXE (Hardouin de BEAUMONT de) Histoire du Roy Henri le Grand composed by Messire Hardouin de PEREFIXE. Paris, Martin, 1661. In-4: 6f, 481pp, (2). Contemporary red morocco, spine ribbed and ornamented, jaws restored at the entrances, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, central gilt coat of arms, gilt roulette on the edges, rubbing, corners slightly dulled, minor defects, edges gilt. First edition. This famous history of Henri IV was written for the young Louis XIV. Provenance: Arms of Louis XIV on boards and bookplate printed in color of the famous American bibliophile Lucius Wilmerding, whose Library was sold at auction in New York in 1950-1951.
