SAMAZEUILH (Jean François) Souvenirs from the Pyrenees. Agen, Prosper Noubel, 1827-1829. 2 volumes in-8: 2, 273pp, 3f (tables), 1f (table), 1f (errata) / 312pp (sequel); illustrated with a folding map by TARDIEU and 4 lithographed hors texte plates by LÉGÉ collected at the end of volume 1 (a few scattered freckles, a few browned leaves). ½ contemporary red calf, ornate smooth spines, gilt heads, gilt numerals at head of spines, one crowned, marbled edges on volume I only, paper boards slightly different. Can be easily explained as the sequel was published two years after the first volume. Rare complete with 2 volumes. "This is an amiable, witty, pleasantly written Book... SAMAZEUILH deserves not to be forgotten".
