Red morocco signed CHAMBOLLE-DURU, ornate ribbed spine, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, gilt numeral at the corners, interior lace, gilt edges. A very fine copy.
(Labarère 1578).
Provenance: figure of General Antoine Charlemagne (nephew and heir of Madame Thiers) at the corners (Vente Drouot, 2015). He spent most of his career in Algeria, where he commanded the 8th Hussars and was promoted to brigadier general during the 1870 war.
