Pigeon - Lot 1
Pigeon ANDICHON (Henry d') La Chasse aux Palombes by Messire Henry d'ANDICHON, curé archiprêtre de Lembeye. 18th century. Pau, Léon Ribaut, (imp. Véronèse), 1875. Booklet in-8: 22pp, 1f. (note). Printed on Arches laid paper at 60 copies (plus 2 large-margin head copies on J. Whatmann Turkey Mill in the year 1874, these 2 copies are not indicated in the edition). Minor spotting. Autograph letter from Béarn tenor Pascal Lamazou to Madame la comtesse Aldebert de Chambrun. Untrimmed copy. Contemporary blond calf, gilt title on spine, green title and author labels, triple gilt fillet on covers, filleted edges, inner lace, grey-blue paper cover, gilt head. Extremely rare. A first edition of 1753 is said to exist, now a myth among collectors, and the legend of which was born after the publication of Désiré Vastin Lespy's Chasse aux Palombes by Ribaut in 1875 (the one we present). Most probably composed in October 1752, we are convinced that this poem remained in manuscript form. Provenance: Copy from the Schwerdt library.
